Hi! I'm Ward...
And until this year I was a Human Resources executive who spent every spare moment of my time either researching fitness and nutrition science or applying what I've learned to my own regimen. As you may know if you've watched any of my videos- I was never meant to be the guy at the grocery store that people stop to ask my about gym routine! I'm a nerd!
But as it turns out- I am that guy now. And every time someone stopped me I found myself excited to pass on some of the knowledge I had gained over the years. When the opportunity presented itself I grabbed the opportunity to take off my tie and put on my signature short-shorts and get to work doing something I really love.
I spend my days coaching clients, working out, studying nutrition or exercise science, listening to podcasts and reading journal articles on metabolism catalysts. (so you don't have to!). At night, I am chilling at home with my small family. We have three rescue Pitbulls- Mabel, Gracie, and Max who are absolute balls of joy... and often the bane of my existence.
I'm a brother, an uncle, a partner, a dogfather, and a friend. My favorite things to do are geek out about David Bowie, Chris Cornell, Broadway, professional wrestling (AEW), movies filmed prior to 1995, and cooking shows!
If you want to know more about me, who I can help, or how I work... take a look at the videos on this page, explore the Methodology page, or dive into the Resources section. There are a few things there now- but more to come soon!
Or reach out for a free consultation HERE and find out more for yourself in person!
About Coach Ward
Ward Stanford has spent decades inside the thing he coaches.
Powerlifter, amateur bodybuilder, hybrid athlete, half marathoner — not as a professional with a team and a recovery staff, but as a person who figured it out the same way most people do: through reading, experimenting, failing, and adjusting until the science and the lived experience finally agreed with each other. That background produces a kind of expertise that no certification alone can replicate — a deep, practical fluency in body recomposition, muscle building, fat loss, cardiovascular training, and long-term health that comes from having actually done all of it, at real-life scale, without favorable genetics, or professional infrastructure.
What separates Built Anyway Coaching from a smart trainer with a good program is the psychology. Ward holds a Master's degree in Organizational Psychology — the science of motivation, behavior change, and what actually makes people follow through. Combined with advanced knowledge of nutrition science, blood work and biomarker management, GLP-1 pharmacology, performance enhancement, and evidence-based supplementation, the result is a coaching approach that treats the whole person rather than just the macros. The complicated gets made simple. The science gets translated into daily life. And the psychology gets applied not as a motivational afterthought but as the foundation the entire program is built on — because knowing what to do and actually doing it are two completely different problems, and Ward has spent his career learning how to solve both.
